Roomsets
Creating roomsets consisted of collaborating with our in-house photography department who supplied the marketing team with on-shots of all of the products that would need to be shown in the catalogue. Taking these images, stock images of empty house interiors / exteriors were used and the products were seamlessly integrated into each composition. The challenge lay in marrying both the way the product was shot to the environment it would inhabit. In some cases drastic editing was needed in order to create a realistic and believable roomset.

Each roomset came with its own set of variables, for example, the conditions in which the room is shot, and ensuring there was enough available negative space around where the product would be to highlight it. In order to create a believable outcome, these conditions would need to be replicated with the product itself, lighting, shadow work, colour correction were all done manually to a high level of detail to meet the unique conditions of every room.

The hardest sets to do were exterior / solar lights due to the lack of high quality exterior shots, in many cases - products would need to be reshot by the photography department to a specific angle in order to be integrated into a shot correctly.
Product and Room Adjustments
In some cases, if the same product would need to be showcased in different colours. A colour correction on a roomset would be made to efficiently generate more roomsets for different products in less time.
Colour Correction
Before                                                                                                 After
Throughout the catalogue colour correction is applied to certain products to ensure that how they are portrayed on page is accurate and reflective of the product in real life. When products are photographed they are limited by the conditions they are shot within, as a graphic designer my role was to correct the look manually by way of visual assessment, taking a real-time reference of the product and converting my perception into reality. In the case of a family of products, this ensures visual consistency on the page between each item and maintains a cohesive and collective aesthetic throughout.
